Biography:
I was born in Iran just years after a pro-democracy movement failed and an authoritarian regime took power. My family fled when my older brother was about to be conscripted into the Iranian military. We came to America with little. I didn’t speak English, we relied on public schools, Pell Grants, SNAP, and the support of neighbors and community to build a life.
With that support, I became a state weightlifting record holder, an AmeriCorps member, an educator, and a father. My faith journey—shaped by Muslim, Catholic, Evangelical, Methodist, and secular communities—taught me to treat every person as having equal worth and to work across divides.
For the past decade, I’ve helped lead community resistance efforts because I believe democracy must be protected and strengthened. I’m running for Congress because I know firsthand what opportunity looks like when it works—and what happens when power is concentrated in the hands of the wealthy and well-connected. I want to fight for a democracy that serves working families, not political insiders.
Top Issues:
My agenda is centered on:
Affordability:
Working families should be able to afford groceries, housing, healthcare, and childcare. I will fight to reverse cuts to SNAP and Medicaid, raise the minimum wage to a living wage, invest in affordable housing, and end tariffs that raise prices on everyday goods.
Care:
We must care for one another and the places we call home. That means strengthening public schools, supporting teachers and healthcare workers, investing in community safety, protecting clean water and air, and ensuring seniors, children, and working families have access to the services they need to thrive.
Empowerment:
Democracy only works when power belongs to the people. I support ranked-choice voting, fair district maps, campaign finance transparency, and restoring checks and balances so no elected official or corporation is above accountability.
