Biography:
Rachel Fetty Anderson is a public interest attorney and mother of four from Morgantown, West Virginia. Her practice is focused on serving families and individuals struggling with custodial and guardianship issues, healthcare appeals and other matters experienced by folks facing economic and personal challenges.
In her public life Rachel served as a City Councilor and Deputy Mayor for the City of Morgantown and continues to serve on boards that address the issues that are important to her, including homelessness, food insecurity, transportation and child abuse and neglect.
Raised in rural Nebraska and the oldest of six children, Rachel experienced many of the challenges that she assists with now. As a recipient of Medicaid, SNAP, LIEP assistance, the Pell Grant and subsidized student loans, she is very aware of the support she received from the American people that allowed her and others in her family to thrive despite significant challenges. She is driven to pay these opportunities forward and to fight to retain these programs and services for all of West Virginia’s children, families and elders.
Top Issues:
West Virginia should be a welcoming and safe home for our children and families.
Clean water, air and land:
West Virginias’ communities are suffering due to environmental damage. Senators should be available to support community efforts to demand that corporations comply with federal law and ensure that communities get immediate local aid and funding when a response to a natural or environmental disaster is needed.
Universal Healthcare
Universal Healthcare is a critical part of restoring the economy and affordability to Americans. Rachel’s experience in appeals against insurance companies has convinced her that these systems do not serve patients or providers. The suffering of West Virginians should result in profits for massive corporations.
Education
Your Senator should be working to fully fund your child’s education and make sure that teachers are qualified, have reasonable class sizes and adequate resources to teach.
