Biography:

Steven M. Wendelin is a retired U.S. Navy Commander with nearly four decades of naval service, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He began his career as an enlisted Sailor and rose to the rank of Commander, leading men and women in uniform at home and overseas. His career was built on duty, accountability, and respect for the Constitution he swore to defend.

Steven lives in Hardy County, West Virginia, where he remains active in his community and engaged with voters across all 27 counties of the 2nd District. After 39 years in uniform, he believes public service does not end at retirement. It continues wherever leadership and integrity are needed.

He is running for Congress to restore trust in government and to ensure that it works for working families, not corporations and special interests. Steven does not take corporate PAC money and has pledged to ban stock trading by members of Congress. His campaign is grassroots, powered by everyday West Virginians who want honest representation.

Steven believes leadership means showing up, listening, and being accountable. He is running to serve, not to cash in, and to stand up for the people of West Virginia’s 2nd District.

Top Issues:

Steven’s top priority is defending our Constitutional rights and restoring the rule of law. No one is above the law, and government must be accountable to the people. He believes Congress must reclaim its role, protect checks and balances, and ensure that federal power is never abused.

He is committed to getting money out of politics. That means banning corporate PAC money, prohibiting members of Congress from trading stocks, and increasing transparency so voters know exactly who their representatives answer to.

Steven also believes healthcare should never be a for-profit industry built on denying care. He supports ending for-profit healthcare practices that put shareholders over patients and making care affordable and accessible for every American.

He will fight to protect and strengthen Social Security, defend Medicare, and ensure that seniors receive the benefits they have earned. For Steven, these priorities are not partisan. They are about fairness, accountability, and keeping faith with the American people.
